To the Me Who Was About to Leap

To the Me Who Was About to Leap

Dear Ethan,

I am writing to you a year in the future right now. I won't spoil too much, so I'll keep it brief.

You do end up following through and moving to Florida.

It's a funny and memorable move and it's also one of the best decisions you've ever made.

You find work. You find a place.

You meet some of the most incredible people you've ever met. You create some of the most incredible memories of your life.

Many times, you'll want to pinch yourself. But this really is your life. Give thanks for it often. Many hands have played a role in shaping your life.

You start a run club sometime in the next year too and as nervous as this thought makes you, you'll be so glad you did, so don't get discouraged when it's just you out there running some weeks. Just two nights ago, you sat around with 10 of the very people you met on a Saturday at 8:30 am and shared a meal with lots of laughter.

You stay in touch with family back home despite being the furthest you've ever been away from them. You'll enjoy living near an airport that offers direct flights back home. And because of it, you'll take more flights than you ever have.

You are going to be invited to do things and think, "maybe I could just stay home for tonight and catch up on... xyz". Go. This is the very thing you used to ask for.

You are going to have a lot of growth happening this year and it's going to really stretch you at times. And that's ok. It's really beautiful how you adapt. It is shaping you into the man you are meant to be.

Anyway, I have to go now. I am too excited for my day to type for much longer ;)

Just know, I am proud of you. Only you know how far you've come.

Future you smiling ear to ear,

Ethan
